The Diploma of Counselling (CHC51708) is a nationally recognised course that provides the first step towards a career in Counselling and entry into the counselling profession. This course gives the student a thorough  understanding of the current counselling theories and will provide a solid foundation in basic counselling and communication techniques. Students will also learn how to apply the skills taught to a client therapist relationship. There is an in-depth focus on professional ethics and client – counsellor  respect.

The theory and practice of counselling are consistent enabling the practitioner to feel confident when entering the counselling profession.

Jigsaw Consulting Group offer the Diploma of Counselling in class room training as we believe counselling is best learnt in a group situation.
 
Jigsaw cater for those students already employed by running weekend and weeknight classes.  For students not currently employed, the classes are held one day per week from 9.00am – 3.00pm.

Articulation and Study Pathways

Pathways for this program include:

  • Charles Sturt University - Bachelor of Social Science (Social Welfare): 2 years credit
  • Australian College of Applied Psychology – Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling): 12 months credit
  • Jansen-Newman Institute – Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling): 0.75 years credit
  • James Cook University - Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology: 3 credit points

Further negotiations are underway with Universities and other Tertiary Education Providers. This qualification may also allow entry into certain other qualifications in the Community Services VET Training Package at Advanced Diploma, Vocational Graduate Certificate or Vocational Graduate Diploma level.

Cost: $800.00 per module

About VET FEE HELP

In partnership with Community Training Australia Pty Ltd who is an approved VET provider under the VET FEE-HELP Assistance Scheme Jigsaw Consulting Group can offer eligible student’s access to VET FEE-HELP.

VET FEE-HELP is an income contingent loan scheme that assists eligible students to pay for all or part of their VET tuition fees when studying one or more of the eligible VET courses at CTA. Students wishing to access VET FEE-HELP assistance are invited to discuss their eligibility with the staff at Jigsaw Consulting Group 

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) website contains important information about VET FEE-HELP (go towww.deewr.gov.au/vetfeehelp). Students intending to access the scheme should read the VET FEE-HELP Student Information Booklet. When you sign the Request for VET FEE-HELP Assistance form, you declare that you have read this booklet and that you are aware of your obligations under VET FEE-HELP.

FUNDING ELIGIBILTY: Are you eligible for Government-funded Training for Existing Workers? 
This is an Australian Government Initiative available for both new and existing workers, providing the opportunity to gain a Nationally Recognised Qualification. 'Existing workers' are employees who have been working for their current employer for longer than three months full-time or longer than 12 months part-time. Eligible participants may attract payment of Commonwealth Government employer incentives of up to $4000 to assist in covering course fees and other expenses.
Jigsaw Consulting Group works closely with Australian Apprenticeship Centres around Australia to establish eligibility of employers and employees, as well as to coordinate sign-ups.
